8 Super Productive Things To Do While You Are Stuck In Traffic

The increasing number of vehicles and road rage in major cities are resulting in worse traffic. Getting stuck in traffic has become a routine for everyone who has to commute every day to go to work or school or running any other errands. Many cities are very popular for the traffic jams they have.

Most of us tend to get angry, frustrated and some might fall asleep while stuck in traffic.

But if we really want we can utilize that time by doing some of the things that we have on our to-do list. Or we can do those things that we were meant to do but got no time to do so. Or just do the things so that we save some time for other things later.

Productive things to do while you are stuck in traffic:

1. Read

Instead of falling asleep or having a sour mood or just sitting there idly, you can read something. Maybe some books or magazines you like or maybe some blogs and articles online that you have saved to read later but never got time. If you are a student, you can revise your lesson, study notes, etc.

2. Listen

If you are not into reading, you can listen. Not just listen to some songs but audiobooks (there are so many) or your favorite podcasts. Remember, we are trying to be productive instead of just sitting there getting bored.

3. Go through your emails

One of the things that you can do while stuck in traffic is to check your emails. Almost everyone has got a smartphone and an internet connection. So just go through your emails, reply to those you think you need to, sort the emails, delete those you reckon as unnecessary and take other actions accordingly.

4. Social posting

If you are a blogger like me, you know how important it is to be present and active on social media. So, why not utilize the time and make it a little more productive. You can create the posts, edit the pictures and make them ready for posting, schedule posts, interact with your audience, reply to the comments you have received, and more.

5. Learn a new language

Learning a new language is always exciting, isn’t it? Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean or any other language you want to learn. You can get a book or an app on your phone and teach yourself a new language.

6. Play games

You must be thinking that how is playing a game a productive thing to do. But I am talking about not just any game but those games that will boggle your mind. For examples: Sudoku, Puzzles, and such. You can get those games on your phone or newspaper or even books. These games will stimulate your mind and also relieve stress.

7. Work on your to-do list

Again, either using your note apps on your phone or real notebook, you can work on your to-do list. You can plan your day and sort out your to-dos. This will keep you occupied during the traffic and you will have one less thing to do for the day.

8. Catch up with your friends/family

Be patient and calm during the traffic. Get your phone and dial the numbers of your friends and family. Busy work days don’t leave you with much time to hang out with your friends and family. So, why not catch up with them when you are stuck in traffic. You will definitely have a better mood after that.

These are some of the things to do while stuck in traffic and be productive.

You can choose to do any of the above-mentioned productive things to do while you are stuck in traffic next time and make it a productive commute.

Instead of getting bored and frustrated and sitting idly, you can make yourself little more productive. Sounds good?

  1. As far as learning a new language in small breaks, especially lunch break and when I get stuck in traffic, I prefer using Mondly (https://www.mondly.com/) – has a great design, structure and you really learn if you practice daily.

Even 5 minutes every day can mean a lot if you do it consistently.
